Sunday School

Ah, yes. Sunday School. You’ve heard about it—maybe you’ve even been before.

But chances are, you’ve never been to a place that takes it as seriously as we do. That’s because we believe that one of the chief problems with Christianity in America today is that it’s 3,000 miles wide and 1 inch deep. Christians don’t know what they believe or why they believe it any more. This is especially tragic, since what Christians believe is part of a cherished and trusted faith that has been handed down to us for 2,000 years—most of the time, at the cost of someone’s life.

This is why we take Sunday School seriously. Because the Bible tells us to: “devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching.”

Sunday School starts at 9:30 AM on Sunday mornings, and all classes are taught by studious, diligent teachers who have undergone pedagogical training and are devoted to helping you learn the Christian faith.

Catechism (or Solid Foundations)

This is a discussion-based doctrine class covering all Sixteen Fundamental Truths of the Assemblies of God and Pentecostal theology. Especially popular among college- and career-aged young people, this course is a fun exposition of the tenets of our faith. Eight of these doctrines are standard teachings across denominational lines in all of orthodox Christianity—so even if you don’t feel like the Assemblies of God is your cup of latte, you’ll still learn what Christianity is all about. All are welcome to attend church or any classes they choose; however, those wishing to become voting members of Church On The Hill must complete this class. It is taught by Michael Mitchell, an ordained Assembly of God minister and a graduate student of systematic theology. The class takes a break between cycles to undergo special studies, such as “Cults” or “The History of the Church.”

Adult Bible Study

The Ladies Bible Study is taught by Carrath Mitchell, an experienced educator who has a love for the continuing acquisition of knowledge on the part of God’s people.

Youth Room

This is a youth-oriented Sunday School class taught by Nicholai Elkins. It is topical in nature, and a very lively discussion-based environment. There is usually food involved!

Children Class

This class focuses on the issues that help children grow in their faith toward a mature understanding of the gospel and their place in the Church.
